Hong Kong - Sa DingDing, a Grammy office-seeker and winner of the BBC Radio 3 World Music Award in 2008, performed two concerts at the Hong Kong Idol Hall for the 38th Hong Kong Arts Festival. Shalom AV Technology provided a Meyer Sound Milo game array loudspeaker system for the event.
Named by The Times as the Asian Björk, Sa DingDing sings in Tibetan, Sanskrit, and Mandarin. By mixing accustomed Chinese melodies and Buddhist prayers with electronic instruments, she has inspired many with a spiritual musicality reproduced by a Meyer Characteristic system.
"Milo was used because it not only provides the power we needed for the size of venue but also gives us the dynamics," states Roland Chan, concert make of Shalom AV Technology.
To cover 3,600 spectators in the four-level Star Hall measuring 30,000sq.ft, a Meyer Impression system with 16 Milo and four Milo 120 line array loudspeakers was configured. Low frequency was supplied by four 700-HP and four 650-P subwoofers. Four UPA-1P loudspeakers provided front-fill. A Galileo loudspeaker stewardship system provided signal processing and an RMS remote monitoring system offered extensive real-time status and system scene data. MAPP Online Pro acoustical prediction programme was used for system design.
